Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help prevent and alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our main site in Peterbrough is an RCVS Accredited Hospital Practice and the branch practice in Yarwell is an RCVS Accredited Core Practice.  See www.rcvs.org.uk  You can be confident therefore that we are well-equipped to provide diagnostic, surgical and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Anaesthesia:  We utilise the safest available anaesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Imaging: Radiology and Ultrasound Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray and ultrasound equipment provides high quality imaging to aid in the rapid diagnosis of many disorders. This can range from an ultrasound to check for pregnancy to a detailed scan of a heart.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as electronic consultations with cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, haematology, serology and urinalysis. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: We recommend microchiping for identification. This can cost less than £6.00 if done at the same time as primary vaccinations.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your garden and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, reproduction and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. One of the partners, Mrs. Young is happy to offer behavioural counselling on a one to one basis at either site or at your home. Our nurses are all happy to give basic advise on matters such as socialisation, house training etc. They will refer you if necessary.

Boarding:  We have an adjacent FAB Approved Cattery providing superb heated chalets in a lovely, quiet garden setting. We can also board small pets - please ask for details. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. If there are any problems the hospitlal is only next door.  Check in and out is by appointment but appoiments are normally available 7 days a week. We do ask that cats are vaccinated before staying with us.

Bathing:  Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.

Emergency Care:  We provide our own on-site emergency care. As a hospital we have a trained member of staff on the premises 24 hours a day, 365 days of ther year. Only hospitals have to offer this level of care and sadly many veterinary practices still leave sick animals alone on the premises after hours.  Out of hours still call our normal telephone numbers and your call will be answered by one of our trained staff and arrangements will be made to contact the duty veterinary surgeon. Please note that the veterinary surgeon may not be on-site and the nurses are instructed not to answer the door out of hours - so please phone first.
